Superstore had prime rib roasts for $4.77/lb... so I went to pick one up.
I wasn’t planning to have people around, I cut them into rib steaks instead:
Bones to be used for stewing soup. As for the fat... tallow for the steaks.
Yup... I’m set for quite a bit. $40 for the whole piece of AAA, I ain’t complainin’, lol.

Not bad!
Maybe that explains why some of my relatives had prime rib instead of turkey today.

That’s a crazy good deal, at least it would be around here. I would have stocked up with as many as I could. Maybe just sort of roll around on a couple of them.

I was told you can actually talk to the meat department, if you buy the whole rib piece still in the vacuum shrink wrap, they can drop it down to $3.99/lb. Cap-on and all.

Wow, incredible. I’ve been buying whole tenderloins for years because it’s cheaper than buying pre-cut filet (usually by a pretty good margin).
But if I found a deal like that at a local shop, I wouldn’t think twice. Good on you for making the correct decision.
