The land rover is way older than the espace, its not necesarily apples to apples.
Think of it this way, the simplest formula for an inelastic collision is m1*v1+m2*v2=m3*v3. If a small car crashes into a large car, the large car will move less (thus accelerate slower) than a smaller car. I know its sort of caveman logic but it holds true. Small cars defend themselves by, sure, accelerating, but accelerating slower by having very intricate crumple zones that absorb the energy, a large car doesn’t need that because of its heft.

Yes, but the price for each is about the same, leaving them both in contention when someone has X to spend.
I’ll take a smaller vehicle and take my chances. I survived a wreck that totalled my VW Vanagon, a car many claimed was a rolling deathtrap, so maybe I just feel invincible.

The solution is to make SUVs weaker so that people realize they are useless.

Or a little social engineering to make wagons and minivans the ‘in’ vehicles, and the SUV problem will take care of itself...

I know that clip without clicking play. It’s one of the extremely few video reviews of this body style land cruiser
