Toyota Mark II Blit 2.5iR-V. Factory 1JZ-GTE wagon. A bit odd-looking and auto-only, but stupid cheap and a manual swap isn’t too much of a nightmare. Only 9 more years...

At the rate people are going through them and the ever increasing drift tax, I doubt there will be any R154s left in 9 year’s time.

Yeah, I should probably go find one. Even if I don’t end up buying an X-chassis or whatever I could just sit on it for awhile and make a profit a few years down the line.

Why does it not have a model year? It just has a build date.

No other country but the US does model years. There are tons of articles about the model year thing came from when it made actual sense.

It the rest of the world the age of a car gets determined by built date or first registration, which usually aren’t far apart as those are built to order markets where cars don’t sit on dealer lots for months or years.

I think Canada does model years as well, but yeah, it’s definitely a North American thing. These Blits started production in early 2002, so they’re early 2027 before we can get them.

This seems like a good place to post this thing.

Thank you. That’s kind of bizarre; I don’t really focus on cars from other markets, so I just assumed everything had a model year.

The only thing that doesn’t make sense to me is the Lexus nose. The rest of it is typical drift car business.

Is that a JDM ‘01-’06 (ish?) version of the Camry?

Not quite. You have the years almost dead on (02-07), but it was RWD. It was an evolution of what we knew as the Cressida.

Bah, I even had typed ‘02 first them changed it. The doors look very Camry-like to me. RWD + wagon = better!
