Someone wanted his Jaguar to look like an Opel Manta? I think it’s a fairly good assumption that the owner was not woman.

Oh, Lister...
I never particularly liked the bodykit but the idea of a huge V12 in an XJ-S has tremendous appeal.

See that three-armed spiral (triskele) on the hubcap?
That is the traditional Lister badge.
Unfortunately sometime in the late 80s Daimler-Benz started complaining that it looked a lot like their three-pointed star (?!). It didn’t seem to matter to them that triskeles, in one way or the other, predate Christianity (and, certainly, Mercedes-Benz); or that for centuries they have been – just to mention a couple of examples – the symbols of Sicily or the Isle of Man.
In the end Daimler-Benz could afford a long trademark trial, whereas Lister, obviously, could not, and they had to drop their badge.
The British automotive press did not refrain at the time from pointing out other kinds of
four
-armed spirals which in the dark ages of the 30s used to grace the sides of M-B’s
Silberpfeile
.

I couldn’t find a red Manta 400 in the available time, but I agree.
