I don't know what's going on, but carmax has been killing it when it comes to manual E91s recently

This afternoon in unnecessary car shopping with E90M3, we find yet another manual BMW wagon at carmax. Recently they’ve had two others:

I’m sure if I keep posting these wagons someone is going to buy one. Of course by someone I mean myself, after all I need to add an E91 and an E93 to the fleet.

I’ve always disliked those wheels though...

They’re not my favorite. The good news is BMW has a bunch of great looking OEM wheels:

If I had the money that would be in my driveway tomorrow. Love the blue and the aluminum inside.

Yep. At least a wheel swap is possible. I’m loving the color combination no matter what.

I drove home yesterday. 100 kms And every single bit was covered in snow. I sort of don’t mind awd anymore..

I like the price, the transmission, the color combo, and yes, the AWD. I want it!

While I like BMW wagons, I’m not sure if I’d ever get one before I went after a Legacy wagon.

I live in Savannah GA, I’ve still got summer tires on the M3, don’t really need AWD.

My dad had a 1996 Legacy, which he bought new, all it did was leak oil. It died at 196k, I don’t think I would want to own a Subaru.

The EJ25D was and is a phenomenally problem-prone engine, so if your dad ended up owning a Legacy Outback, he ended up getting one of Subaru’s biggest screwups. I’ve narrowed my oil leak down to my oil pan gasket in my ‘98. It’s done 227,000 miles and still keeps going. There’s a lot of random electrical gremlins, however, and the headlights never seem to shine right.

As far as I know many of the problems had been fixed by 2006.

He had the 2.5 Legacy GT, it was a sedan. I know he had a bunch of work done on it to try and find the oil leak. Before that, my parents had a 1.6 GL turbo and that also leaked oil everywhere. The legacy suffered a catastrophic power loss and then was subsequently ditched. It was one of the first cars I ever drove. It was supposed to be my first car, but sadly it died before I got my license.

That’s oddly similar to how I got my hands on my Legacy, my mother bought it after her truck spun the main bearing. While I had a little seat time in said truck, I have far more in the Legacy - I essentially owned it without really owning it.

It’s unfortunate you’ve had such bad luck with Subarus. Mine has been surprisingly durable.

Okay, I see.

Come to S witzerland and try one of those snow driving schools. They mostly use Xdrive bmw. And it’s bloody good fun.

Your treat?

I’ll be in Scotland/England in April of next year. Hopefully don’t need winter tires then.

Those I can accept. The ones on this wagon though... not so much.

It always had problems in the 8 years he owned it. Those were basically all highway miles. I think when we lived in Arizona he put at least 100 miles on the car everyday. We’ll see how a BMW handles similar miles, I got it with 40k on it in March and as of today it’s got 60k on it.

Why do you do this to me? If this was nearer to me, and/or we didn’t buy a Volvo in April, I would be all over this. This is the same basic thing I have now, but updated by 6 years. My E46 325xi wagon is blue/tan with a manual. I’d like to keep it forever, but it’s too salty here to keep that dream alive.

Other than not being a manual, this is the one I want:

I know, me too. If my car exploded tomorrow, it would be hard to convince me not to get that one.
