I just remembered there’s a sequal to “Dues Ex HR” (If you didn’t know, it’s my favorite game ever) and now I have an Xbox to play it on. I remember watching a play-through of it when it first came out since I didn’t have a console at the time, and being disappointed in the story, but I’ve forgot it since then! So no spoilers.
I’ll probably get it Monday or Tuesday morning so I can play it after my final tues.
If this post disappointed you, have some low quality internet may-mays.

Just know that it’s like they heard that people thought the opening mission of HR was a terrible slog you had to get through to get to the good part of the game and were like “hold my beer”.

Ugh, half the fun of the game for me was having to manage resources. IIRC from the play through energy bars were a lot more common, which actually kind of disappointed me.

HR might be one my favorites too. And I haven’t even played it, just seen a play-through

I loved HR, but twice I’ve gotten stuck and have taken ages to go back. One of the times was at the end of the first mission, which I ended up nearly beating perfectly, but then couldn’t remember the grenade key when I needed it, and so ended up botching partially, but wasn’t going to go back and replay the thing just for the stupid helicopter.

You need to play it! I bought it in 2014 for less than $10 so if you have a console or a PC that can run it you have no excuse!

No consoles :(
Ever starting to watch Let’s Plays on YouTube last year I’ve seriously been considering building a PC.
Someone on Oppo recommended a good YouTuber to watch, so I blame them for my eventual descent into PC gaming

On one hand, you could probably get a Xbox one/PS4 for cheap now that they’ve come out with the next gen. Although building a PC does sound interesting. I’d probably do it if I had the time and money.

This, this I can help you with. I’ve built a hundred PCs or so. My brother is having me kit one out for him right now.

Screenshotted so I don’t forget, although it won’t be until late spring at the earliest! If I wanted to play games like FEAR, Resident Evil 7, The Evil Within 2... Any ballpark idea what I’d be looking at cost wise?

First question is what do you have? Monitor? Keyboard? Mouse? Those things sort of take a back seat, but they are important. Do you have any PC, or are we starting from scratch? If you have none of that, then just a ballpark, you want a GTX 1060 6Gb, s0 $200ish unless there’s a good sale, which there usually are. I’d plan on about $700 minimum if you have a monitor, or about $850 if you have nothing at all. Likely to go Ryzen for cost, and they’ll be pretty good, so call it $250 for CPU and Mobo, $80-$160 for ram (8 or 16, depending on if you want to do more than just game), $200 for an SSD and volume drive, case and power supply, and fans ~$100 at minimum. You can cut some off that for the games you’re talking about, but if you want to play more modern stuff, I’d go with what I said. Probably looking at 24 or 27" monitor, 1080P, 60Hz.

I have absolutely nothing. All my computing has been via phone and tablet for about five years now. I was hoping I could keep a build at no more than 1k, this sounds perfect.

Oh yeah, it can be done!
