It’s the closest thing to SolidWorks I’ve found. So nice and easy to use. Plus:

- It’s free for personal use

- You get file formats that you can use, as opposed to SW which not only restricts you to SW files, but to SW files from YOUR SPECIFIC YEAR of SW.

No idea what SolidBreaks is like, but I’ve done a little bit of SolidWorks. It’s the closest thing to SolidWorks I’ve found, almost like an online clone. Unlike SW though:

- It’s free for personal use

- You get file formats that you can use, as opposed to SW which not only restricts you to SW files, but to SW files from YOUR SPECIFIC YEAR of SW.

- You get your stuff anywhere and it’s got a nice app that is actually usable.

SolidBreaks is my Formula Hybrid team’s nickname for Solidworks. 10 years of bad habits with regards to file management and being 95% self-taught means that we crash it constantly. It’s extremely rare for us to open one of our assemblies and not see some kind of file error.

similarly, I like FreeCAD as sort of a “CATIA-lite” in how it works. plus, you know, free.

it was buggy as shit on Windows for a while (I run it on Linux) but it works fine now.

It’s only for 2D, but LibreCAD I find fairly decent.

It has issues with file formats but if you just want to make printable drawings it’s fine.

I found DraftSight to be more to my liking for 2D, but that’s because I cut my teeth on AutoCAD R14 and it’s almost an exact workalike.
