Last night I started an update at 7:30pm, at 12:20pm today it was still doing the wheel of death.

Looked online for solutions and a guy at Microsoft suggested doing a forced shutdown if it had gone on for more than four or five hours.

Well I plucked up the courage to do it (I’m no technophobe but I don’t know a lot about computers), it restarted looking for the installation, then found it at 30%, so one hour later it went from forced shutdown to updated and installed.

All of last night I was using mu Blackberry’s for internet access for news, forums and replying.

Four or five hours!? If a win 10 update hangs for more than 15-20 minutes, I do a hard shut haha. Glad you’re up and running.

I thought it would take an hour or two tops, but the black screen came about half an hour in and the wheel of death kept going round and round.

I was scared to do a forced shut down in case it corrupted anything and I borked the computer.

I think the Microsoft Q&A guy was playing it safe with the recommendation.

I got to use my Blackberry KeyOne a little more and get used to it. I don’t use it as my main mobile yet (that is still the Blackberry Classic) as I can’t figure out how to activate the cursor so I’m having to expand and then click on the icon to open stuff.

I’ll get there, sooner or later.

If its still stuck, you can download the updates from Microsoft’s website, circumventing the update app

I bit the bullet and did a forced shut down which paid off.

I usually do my updates via my anti virus provider as they search for all the things it needs, this one came up from Microsoft and I let it run. Big error on my part.
