The E46 needs a new thermostat and the Pilot has a leaking radiator. I fucking hate cold weather car repairs.

I know for a fact Santa is bringing me a new multimeter. I’m currently pleading with him to deliver it a bit early so I can get my DSC & ABS working before the snow hits.

Today I have to replace the alternator, tensioner pulley, and belt on my Mom’s Ram so she has it as a backup this winter.

Hopefully your T-stat replacement goes smoother than mine did.

I did it 14 months ago, so hopefully I can remember how I got the fan off the water pump last time. That’s what I get for using non-BMW parts apparently.

Do you not have the special tool? It turns fighting with the fan into a two minute job.

I have the the holder and wrench, but managed to spread the wrench after not realizing it was a reverse-thread because I’m an idiot. Hopefully it’ll still work, otherwise I’ll just have to work around the fan.

I can’t remember the pump brand I bought last time. I think it was a Febi or Uro. Metal impeller.

I haven’t had any issues with Febi parts yet, IIRC this is a part of the bilstein group. But I’ve stayed away from Uro because I heard they aren’t as quality. Or maybe it was Meyle.

I’ve started going to a neighbor’s garage to do the more urgent cold-weather stuff. And plotting how to build this:

I shouldn’t complain - If I had the tcase done on my Jeep I could work on my cars in a toasty 1.5 car garage, but instead it’s still on jackstands waiting for new gears and seals.

Ah. Well then, nope, just fix the jeep! It never works that way, though, does it?

I actually have access to two garages in the family, but one is not heated at all and has no tools or lights. The other is heated with a woodstove, so it requires advance planning. Not to mention, my truck is parked in there over the winter. So I have to start that up and back it out, fire up the stove, etc. yeah so that never happens unless I’m doing a full brake job or something.
