Shame it only comes with an autobox, but it’s a good one, the ZF 8 speed that everyone seems to have!
Also, the Golf R is about four grand cheaper here too! Don’t ask me why or how!

Those 1-series hatchbacks are such good looking cars...

Why BMW won’t sell it here in the States is beyond me. And Audi only bringing over the A3 hatch as an e-tron and giving us a A3 and S3 sedan instead makes me frown.
Not that I could afford any of these, mind you.

Surely you could afford the 120i or the 115i, both have very interesting (if not smaller) engines and manual boxes!

Those used to be very ugly, but I like the styling now after the facelift

The 8spd ZF is not the worst auto box made.

You can also get this awesome thing!

Maybe I’ll import one of these when I’m 50.

They do offer it in a hatch - it’s called the GTI and Golf R

If only our import rules extended to Mexico...
I’m sure you guys have the 420i Gran Coupe as well with a stick.

Unibody truck, yes!

On the contrary, its a great gearbox! Its fast, its smooth, and it has a wide range of applications

The 4 cyl? Yes. Manual? No.
Bmw only sells the 1 series and some M cars with manuals here.
Look, we might have nice cars here, but we have very strict import rules too, getting to import a car here without a dealer permit is almost impossible!

Good luck finding a clean one! This car falls under the category of the nissan 240z shamefully...

Well in Canada we can import US vehicles with no restrictions, pretty much as long as it has DRLs it can come in. If only the same applied to Mexico, you guys have WAY more interesting cars.
I mean come on, you guys have the Dacia Sandero.

The reason the Golf is more expensive in the USA is American emissions requirements and the subsequent equipment and there is likely a 2% import tariff. [I know we have a 2% tariff with Japan, so I am guessing we have something similar with the EU.]

Golf is Mexican

The U.S. spec Golf R is still built in Germany. Every other Golf including the GTI for the U.S. is built in Mexico. I had to find a VIN number to confirm this.

Oh shit! Well I learnt something this morning!
But if its made in Germany (and not to be elitist) it probably has the same emissions equipment here too. Its not as cumbersome as an AdBlue tank so I think that they’d rather save time and equipt them the same
