I got to watch this happen. Right after school, the street was bottlenecked, and some
jackass
decided to go around the block and save time, somehow. He turned the corner and stabbed it and was doing maybe 40 mph, when someone backed out of their driveway and he swerved and tagged this guy’s truck. It was way more dramatic, with bits hanging from the wires, sun reflecting off broken mirror glass, et cetera. Dude says the mirror costs $600. I’m thinking more like $2000 and dude says the estimate was $6000. The driver was not licensed, Dude tells me...

$150-$350 plus installation on ebay.

$6000 for a mirror? What are they repainting the car while they are at it?

It should cost you a trip to the junkyard with some very baggy pants!

I could see $600 from the dealer plus maybe $200 install.

IF he kept the mirror extended like that then he was sorta asking for this.
I hate HD truck driver that keep thier damn mirrors extended all the time, even when not towing. Especially when parked.

It’s not just the mirror but also any electronics that were inside. Still, I just don’t believe $6K.

Part is like $600 oem or $300 ebay and bolting up mirrors isn’t too bad diy but still people are idiots

Mirror is ~$600 street price new. Having a dealer install it shouldn’t cost more than a couple hundred so $800 maybe.

Yeah, that’s a very rare F350 mirror. Comes with special wires made from braided platinum with unicorn veins as insulation. $6k is appropriate.

Some heroes don’t wear capes. Unless you’re wearing a cape, which would put you into the other category.

That’s a good point. His truck is a dually, so he’s already got very broad hips.

I’m reading your comment and assuming that there is a profoundly clever turn of phrase here, but I’m not getting it. Can you help me?

Yeah, I don’t know where that number comes from. Still, from a dealer, I’d have guessed $2,000.

I think you’re way low, but not $6,000 low...

don’t know why those telescopic ones don’t return to default positions when parked.
At times I do exit my car and fold in their mirrors when they are blocking a parking, an exit, a laneway....

6000.00$ seems right, if you factor in the ford Dealer Markup.
It must have Gt350 or RS in the model number

Depends on if it’s powered, and if it has turn signals, and if it has defrost. Max would be about $750 installed, lowest about $250.

The truck is a dually. So he’s already sticking out.

Have to blend the paint or it won’t match...

The other category is heros who wear capes?

Obviously, these mirrors aren’t even painted in the first place.

More than 1000 without installation for it would be unreal. its just a bunch of plastic, glass, a light, and a small motor.
