Small matter of three inches of rain last evening means it’s a water crossing to get to our front gate this morning...

But most Canadians know some French, as do most rock climbers (since a lot of the sport developed there). Sorry for such a nuanced reference.
ATTENTION SAC GONFLABLE!

Apart from a small number that are Franco-0ntariens and some Acadians.
I was generalizing sure.
In general you won’t find French if not in or very near to Quebec. Some exceptions exist, just as I my self am a exception in Quebec. English is my primary language and I live in rural Quebec. I’m a 1%er just not the rich kind.

Just stop. You’re talking to a Franco-Manitoban. There are francophone communities everywhere, and you don’t have to look that far or hard to find them. I live in Alberta now and keep finding them by accident.

i didn’t say anything wrong, i’m just stating that apart from quebec English is the norm.
Franco-Manitobans make up 4.3% of the province’s population.
Alberta is most likely less than the 4.3%
Again i’m not saying french doesn’t exist out of quebec, but it is rare.
my perfect canada would be truly Bilingual.

Mazda occupies less than 4% of the market share. Are Mazdas rare? No. Most people don’t drive Mazdas, sure, but they aren’t close to uncommon.
Your first sentence was “French is only used here in Quebec.” It was irrelevant to the conversation and almost the exact opposite of “I’m not saying French doesn’t exist outside of Quebec”.
Any time I’ve seen the subject of French Canadians come up I see you jump on it like a cat after a pigeon. The difference is the cat’s just being a cat. You’re being a shitty human being. Just stop.

Who pissed in your chereros this morning?
Like I said I was generalizing. If you don’t find 4% of something is rare, that’s your problem. Did I say anything mean? no. Did I throw out insults? no
If you are offended cause I said the rest of Canada is English, you sir have serious anger issues. Calling me a shitty human for saying this says way more about you than me me friend. You need help. Good luck finding that help in French in Manitoba or Alberta.
And great job on not being a dick!
Here is the definition of rare
rare 1
rer/
adjective
(of an event, situation, or condition) not occurring very often.

Yeah I’m being a dick. On purpose. Because there are certain people whose username I recognize simply because of racist comments, and eventually I get sick of the bullshit and call them on it.
However I owe you an apology. Because I’m not infallible, I did go back and check a few threads, and you’ve been involved in a few but never on the wrong side, which is why your name stands out in my head. I’m sorry for sweeping you in with a small group of shitty humans.
Although, like, in future, a response like “who pissed in your cereal a matin” is pretty much shitty human 101. If someone’s called you a shitty human you either you’ve done something wrong to them in which case you’re victim blaming; or else they’re angry and accusing you of something you haven’t done, in which case you’re just provoking them and making them angrier. It’s a bit like asking a woman if it’s “that time of the month”. Irrelevant, offensive, and will never make the situation better.
But again, I’m sorry for the shitty human comment. It wasn’t deserved at all, and I feel awful.
At this point I realize we’re arguing semantics, but really, 4% of Manitoba’s population is 50,000 people. That’s the size of the second biggest city in the province. That’s significant, and not rare at all.

i wasn’t trying to offend you, my comment was more of a comment on how people think that Canada is actually bilingual, when we are not really. not quoting actual numbers here but lets just say out of quebec that 95% of the population is english. of that 95% most have very, very limited french, like they know a few words kind of limited. In quebec it’s the opposite or the same depending on how you want to look at it. Most Quebecois have a very limited English, and are not bilingual, this is especially true here in the regions(outside of montreal) where i get looked at funny if I speak english, sometimes I would even get comments, and I would respond to them if there was a problem but in french.
Our country might be officially bilingual, but the great majority of it’s citizens are not.
I am sorry and should of used real phrases instead of generalizing like I did.
This exchange between me and you was a real Canadian oppo exchange. got heated up and both gave apologies.
I do get mad and will intervene when someone will bitch about the french, or say all french are separatists or call Quebecois Fascists(Looking at you Ballaban)
I try to be as diplomatic as i can but hey, we are all shitty humans at times too.
Bonne journée à ton mon cher ami.!
