First time I changed the transmission fluid in my 1996 caravan. 1st time was an auto shop in 2006.
I have my own ball of ferrofluid! Not sure if that’s good or bad. It is a Torqueflite 31th transmission :P
Last changed at 54,000 miles and now 80,100 miles / 10 years.
This stuff is a half inch thick. Notice the sparkly oil.
Slimy
All clean and replaced filter, gasket, and new ATF+4 fluid. I never had a problem with the transmission although lately its been vibrating while waiting at red lights unless I put it in neutral. Now it doesn’t vibrate anymore and feel like I have more power.

This makes me feel much better about my last transmission oil change.

That looks pretty good for an Ultradrive.

You should have seen the pan when I changed the fluid in my chevelle’s powerglide. I think it was the first it had been changed since 1971, I was amazed it still worked as well as it did (which was pretty well!). Solid layer of
stuff
on the bottom of the pan including big and small chunks.

30k change intervals man, 30k.
Also, if you don’t have an external cooler, get one.
Chrysler transmissions hold about 1/3 the amount of fluid of most transmissions, they need to be serviced more often (15-30k depending on conditions), or you will grenade the trans.
