I think someone didn’t get their dates right.
Until the 90s AMG was just a company which specialised in souped-up versions of Mercedes-Benz cars,
but they were not part of Daimler-Benz or Mercedes-Benz.
Mercedes-Benz and AMG did not start formally working together until 1993; and Mercedes (or rather, Daimler-Chrysler) did not acquire a controlling interest in AMG until the end of that decade.
Can anyone imagine Bruno Sacco signing-off such an “aesthetic improvement”?
