at first i thought it was pink painters tape to mask certain parts before you paint, then see the mirrors, painters tape ain’t that shinny

That is definitely true - for some reason, a late-80's base model Cavalier sedan with an automatic came immediately to mind as a perfect example of that. Probably because I worked at Avis in Champaign, IL for a while around then and drove/washed way too many of them.
