And now I no longer trust elevators

I don’t trust movies
not that I ever had much faith in hollywood but especially with all the news of it lately I really don’t ever want to go to the movies again and potentially support more of this ongoing glorified sex trafficking scheme

Sound like my dad, he has been an elevator mechanic for 26 years. When I was younger, & he was on call I go with him just to ride on top of a elevator.

I’m in the process of integrating one now, they’re not scary.

Saw this earlier and TIL Spiderman rip off also ripped off Speed which was also in this video for a different “myth”

That was a pretty good interview. I’m impressed with Speed .

Who’d have thought Speed of all movies would get so many details right?

Decapitation feasible. Cool.

“There’s plenty of videos from other countries where this happens.”
Note to self: when traveling the world always take the stairs

The next episode is about stairs collapsing.

I watched it earlier and ended up here:
https://www.liveleak.com/view?i=881_1495381275
Really don’t goto that link if you want to use elevators/escalators anymore.

It’s crazy how many super specialized occupations there are out there. For example: elevator technician/specialist. I’d imagine a position like that would have it’s ups and downs.

Stop showing me jack getting face stabbed!

Well, the good news is often their building codes are substandard, and even those are often not followed ... oh wait, that’s not good news.

NOPE

I didn’t listen.
I should have listened.

Seriously what is the “watching a train wreck” part of our brains?

I would pass on the showers too.

I know, right? I guess it’s the technical details that pique my curiosity, like the nature of the failure, how fast it happens, how much time there is to react, etc... and there’s no way to avoid the gruesome part unless it’s already blurred out.

Cool, an excuse to be a smelly, unwashed tourist!

When visiting my grandma in the hospital last month she was on the fifth floor. The elevators sounded creaky and unsettling. I asked a staff member which way the stairs were. They said the stairs weren’t open to the public. Nope.

#BanElevators
But in all honesty, it’s hard to take a YouTube channel seriously with the advent of these so-called geniuses - they’re as credible as a failed, overvalued business/pitch on Dragons’ Den.

Do you mean their elevator expert? Because that dude is a longtime elevator technician for ThyssenKrupp Elevator AG, one of the biggest and most prominent names in elevators, as well as the treasurer for International Union of Elevator Constructors Local 18.

The tech, well... I wouldn’t doubt. It’s just most YouTube channels in general (*cough*LinusTechTips*cough*) that makes me cast the biggest doubt possible.

Totally fair, there’s a lot of bogus “experts” out there. Cinefix is great at doing their homework though, and when they bring in an expert to weigh in on a subject they make sure it’s a high ranking (and verifiable) authority in the field
