I grew up before airbags, hell, shoulder belts for the first couple cars.
Both of my parents had an internal, split second instinctual reaction to throw their right arm out like a Bobcat or roller coaster crash bar in front of me during hard braking situations in the car.

Kid number one, hover and be ready to catch, kid number 2, just be ready to catch if needed, kid number 3.... ask him if he’s okay as he’s crying at the bottom of the ditch.
