Kinja'd!!!

It was the 10th annual Classic BMW show in Woodley Park here in The Valley this past Saturday. So, I took a bunch of pictures. Most of the cars all look the same to me, but there were definitely some interesting standouts. And lots of orange ones. I love orange cars and BMW has a good tradition with orange.

A 1600GT. This was one of the cars that was a carryover from BMW’s acquisition of Glas. Beautiful Frua bodies that rusted leaving the factory.

This was a Baur convertible conversion that looked great. I’d never seen one before.

GLORIOUS! And so much orange good ones! Just that 2002 tii touring: It isn’t a 2002, it can’t be! It has to be a 2000. Or the owner has backdated it a bit!

Awesome! I’ve never had the opportunity to see any Glas cars in person.

Interesting that somebody took the effort to import (probably) a 2000CS - they were offered here, but this one doesn’t have the ugly sealed beams, and very very few were sold here.

It’s always nice to see the E3 sedans, and especially the 1600/1800/2000 sedans (beside that Glas) - they were sold here, but most people build 1602s/2002s instead.

Yeah, I don’t get that and I didn’t see the owner to ask about it. The other one is badged properly. There were some great cars, but as you can tell, they start to all blur together after a while when they’re in one place like that.

I needed a guidebook so I knew which “E” I was looking at. And some bitterballs. A little of that sambuca would have been nice, too, as a pick me up.

I’m sure there were some of those food trucks in the form of an HY. We should build one and sell bitterballs at festivities like that over there!

Kinja'd!!! Jonee > Jobjoris
11/08/2017 at 21:35

Kinja'd!!!1

I think that’s an excellent idea. Food trucks are all the rage here. And, bitterballs are nowhere to be found otherwise, so we’d corner the market.

Kinja'd!!! Jobjoris > Jonee
11/09/2017 at 05:37

Kinja'd!!!1

Well, make a plan. Can we get an HY over there or do we need Michel to ship one over again? Will Connecticut plates be an issue or is it old enough to get registered. Questions, questions, questions!!!!

Kinja'd!!! Jonee > Jobjoris
11/09/2017 at 21:44

Kinja'd!!!1

There are some HY’s here. They’re usually expensive, so I don’t know if importing is cheaper than finding one stateside. As long as it’s a pre-1975, California is fine with it. Maybe one already turned into a food truck will turn up. Then we just need to learn how to make bitterballs. Does Krista know?

She’ll tell us how it’s done. She just doesn’t want to touch the meat. You know how she cuts chicken? With scissors. Fact.

I’ve seen other people do that. I always wondered why I got that pair of scissors with those knives I bought. Does she wear gloves, too? Is she vegetarian?

She is some sort of vegetarian. As she eats Chicken. And bitterballs. Another fact. Especially when there’s vino involved.

So, she’s not a vegetarian, she just doesn’t touch meat. Does she eat fish, too?

Of course. One can’t cuddle a fish now can we? She orders a Pizza Vegetariana at Ago’s. With Tonno .

You can cuddle a chicken, though. They’re pretty friendly. And dumb.

Tuna? Ew. Sometimes I like anchovies, but not tuna. Yech.

I cuddled a dead duck this weekend. And some wild hogs and deers. All dead though. Yes: we went for our annual “Game” night out with the boys. Just preparing/eating/drinking...

Wow. Is that a restaurant that does that? Or, someone’s house? I don’t like gamey meat myself. It always tastes weird to me. In New England during hunting season you see cars with dead deer strapped to them.

Now, it’s at Richard’s. He’s the Butcher in Princenhage. And lives remote in the forrest of De Rith . He build a guesthouse behind his own house and there’s all kinds of cool cells and sheds where he prepares his game. We go there once a year with the field hockey team.

Kinja'd!!! Jonee > Jobjoris

Pretty cool. That sounds like fun. Who kills the game? Do you get in on the butchering?

Kinja'd!!! Jobjoris > Jonee
11/15/2017 at 05:29

Kinja'd!!!1

Hunters, people who ran over a deer (Kris), all these drop their game at Richard’s. If I want I can chip in the butchering any time I like!

Kinja'd!!! Jonee > Jobjoris
11/15/2017 at 20:55

Kinja'd!!!1

Ah, neat. Will they cook anything? I know there’s a few places here that are like that. You can bring them deer, raccoons, rabbits, squirrels, whatever you hit. Have you ever chipped in? I’ve never done that.

Kinja'd!!! Jobjoris > Jonee
11/16/2017 at 03:51

Kinja'd!!!1

No, not everything. Foxes’ meat is “like bubblegum”. And sure we tipped in, this was last year when we helped Richard. Don’t throw up.

Kinja'd!!!

And this is my teammate Berry. Seems to enjoy it?

Kinja'd!!!1

Like bubblegum? How so? It’s chewy, or sweet? Either way, sounds gross. I think I could handle after it’s already been gutted and isn’t bleeding any more. It looks more like “meat” then.

Kinja'd!!! Jobjoris > Jonee
11/17/2017 at 10:04

Kinja'd!!!1

The chewy part. Bit tasteless as well according to Richard. Such an evening is all about male bonding. No doubt. You’ll never walk alone after that. On the hockey field that is.

Kinja'd!!! Jonee > Jobjoris
11/18/2017 at 21:07

Kinja'd!!!1

That sounds awful. One of the reasons they hunt foxes is because, in the U.K., hunting deer and large game was only for royalty. Or, maybe even just the King. So, foxes was all you had to go for for sport.

It’s how men have bonded for millions of years.

Kinja'd!!! Jobjoris > Jonee
11/19/2017 at 13:41

Kinja'd!!!1

Oh, there is definitely a reason to hunt for foxes. A fox is a “lazy” animal. So if it’s not hunted it will get nearer to the “normal world”. And start looting your next door neighbor’s rabbit or chicken cage.

Two years after Belgium prohibited fox hunting foxes were spotted in gardens in the suburbs of Bruxelles... Fact.

Kinja'd!!! Jonee > Jobjoris
11/20/2017 at 23:22

Kinja'd!!!1

That’s true, you do need to keep them away from the chickens. “Fox in the henhouse” is an expression for a reason.

A fox ate my pet rabbit, Hodgepdge, when I was in high school. He lived outside and I had a fence around his pen, but one day all I found was a trail of white fur leading into the woods.

Kinja'd!!! Jobjoris > Jonee
11/21/2017 at 06:17

Kinja'd!!!1

Worst thing is the entire prohibition was lobbied by those green type environmentalists, backed up by city slickers that watched The Fox and the Hound too often. All agricultural organizations and wildlife forestry organizations warned this would happen...

Poor Hodgepedge.

Kinja'd!!! Jonee > Jobjoris
11/23/2017 at 02:51

Kinja'd!!!1

Well, you still need some foxes. Once you remove one apex predator, then all the little pests flourish. That’s what happened when they got rid of wolves in our west. Without wolves, the deer population exploded. And then the deer ate all the plants where certain birds would build their nests. And without the birds, the insects had a field day and there were plagues of locusts. All to save the cattle which wouldn’t have had to become wolf food if they hadn’t killed all the buffalo.

Hodgepodge. Sorry, typo. It wasn’t hodgepedge. I don’t know what a hodgepedge is, but a hodgepodge is like a mishmash of a bunch of stuff. It was a good name for a rabbit. He was a nice rabbit, too. He always recognized me.

Kinja'd!!!1

Of course, you don’t want to wipe ‘m from the face of the earth, just create a perimeter around the forrest they don’t dare come to eventually. The unbalance works the other way around as well when they introduced rabbits in Australia. Without natural enemies that wasn’t all that successful with the way the rabbit multiplies...

You’re hard to miss with that knokige look and feel but still great job from the little creature!

Kinja'd!!! Jonee > Jobjoris
11/24/2017 at 22:18

Kinja'd!!!1

The Australian rabbit thing is amazing. I think they found a virus that only kills rabbits which sounds like the beginning of a story about the apocalypse. They’ve gotten a lot of bunnies, though.

Kinja'd!!!

That phenomenon has happened in a lot of places just not quite on that scale. There’s a story about one cat on an island with a lighthouse that singlehandedly wiped out an entire species of bird that only lived on that island.

I think he knew my shoes.

Kinja'd!!! Jonee > Jobjoris

Kinja'd!!!1

That’s the result of a rabbit kill. I think from that virus thing. It’s easier than driving them into a pen and whacking them with clubs which is how they used to do it.

Kinja'd!!!

I think I was wearing Air Jordans then.
