Yes sir! Can’t wait to have a truck with AC. Hopefully it will still work come spring time.

That’s a beaut! Congrats, I’ve always liked the first gen Lightnings, and was shopping those when I picked up the Cougar.

WHAT?!
God help the person who doesn’t like an OBS Lighting in Black! Nice find!

I hate you...
How much did you pay? If I didn’t have the kiddo to carry around I’d be on a war path to find another. Of the 60ish cars I’ve owned, it was easily my favorite.

I made that same pledge in 2010, but bought another black car in 2012, then made that pledge again in 2016. I obviously can’t trust myself, either.
Black looks fantastic when it’s freshly cleaned and waxed, but is a real hassle to keep that way.

That’s a beautiful truck. Post some good pics when you get it

Nice OG Lightning. Looks to be in good shape. Congrats!

This will probably be the last (for real this time). I really wanted to hold out for a white one, but they never come up for sale. The only other color they were made in was red, and it just doesn’t hold up very well.

Thanks!

No, you’re right to avoid red. Basically all red paint jobs from that era are pink or white chalk by now.

Ouch! Happy to hear a previous owner say that, sorry yours was totaled. I paid $9600. Has just 70k miles, no paint work, and more importantly not molested.

Yeah, I’ve only seen 2 decent red ones in the 2 years I’ve been browsing. Both were very low mileage, and were double what I wanted to pay.

They would have to have been total garage queens for the finish to have survived. Automakers seemed to have a lot of difficulty getting red right after the switch from lacquers.
