So my truck (08 2500hd with 6.0 gas) takes 5w30. I put in quart of that... And 5 quarts of 5w20. Should I change it out? It’s a 3000 mile schedule, and the weather is only going to get colder. Napa premium performance synthetic blend, if it makes a difference.

Just put a cup of flour in to thicken it up and you’ll be golden

Now you have 5W22.

Check the owners manual and see if it allows different types.
Generally if you put one wrong quart in it’s fine, but not the other way around.
You won’t cause unspeakable damage, but I’d change it out unless the manual says 5w20 is fine.

I’m with His Stigness. Drain it or see if the owner’s manual lists 5w20 as an option.
Beyond that, I wonder if you could get away with adding some of this to thicken it up a little.

I’m less inclined to think that’s okay than some. You can check in your owners manual (or call your dealer probably) but the second number is the warned-up weight of the oil, not the cold weight. 5w20 will be thinner than 5w30. It’s not like where you can use 10 or 15w30 in warmer climates then switch out ton 5w30 when it’s colder.

An egg would probably work as well.

Make sure the manual doesn’t explicitly forbid against 5W30. I once had a car with bold text in the manual stating DO NOT USE 10W40 !

5w30 is what it wants.

Google: 6.0 Chevy 5w20 site:bobistheoilguy.com
Also, GM’s oil life monitor is one of the few things they really did right. Follow it, and you’ll get a lot more distance out of your oil changes.

done that before. grab jugs. go home realize one is different.
I’d be cautious running a lower (operating temp) weight oil.
