I think most non-M E39 owners tend to be people who don’t care about cars. Gearheads seem to gravitate towards the E46s.

True, I always pay attention to other owners and they are ether beat to crap or some banker/stock broker who peaked in the early 2000s. And nether care about cars. Though I will say the wagon versions (though rare) are a mixed bag.
