Bed time. Seriously, it's time for Mrs. Grind and I to buy a new bed.

But not this. She didn’t even have to say no. Her super powered glare was enough. I’m now faced with a tablet repeatedly in my face with, “What about this one...” so I’ll apologize in advance for adult posting.

I’ll ask this. As she is a fan of the metal tube style headboard frame, can a man sleep in that without feeling like it’s a woman’s bed? Here’s an example of a less girly bed that she asked about. Trust me there’s much more frilly examples.

Kinja'd!!!

I personally feel they’re quite.....feminine. But more masculine versions come off as a king size prison bed frame of welded square chromoly. Hand cuff ready.

Another crapshoot is the dresser and bureau colors (dark espresso stain) which would of course be impossible to match with anything else bought today.

I don’t know what to do about this. I’m not a fashionable decore guy and being “meh” with the only stipulation that a guy can feel okay about the bed too and no input about it drives her mad.

If I’m not careful, she’ll get what she wants and I can go suck an egg over it.

my only suggestion is don’t fight, just let her get what she’s happy with

you just need a decent mattress to sleep on really.

My thought process on it: does it hold a comfy mattress? Is the build quality good? Is the price within budget? If so, I generally won’t give a damn about design. That metal frame one looks fine (although I prefer wood myself).

Like pip pip said, mattresses matter, frames don’t.

But having a frame that’s easy to tie or handcuff things to is never a bad thing, just sayin.

Who care if it’s “girly” if it hold the mattress in place it work.

My problem with those is the head board doesn’t actually offer any support is you want at sir up in your bed and read. Your pillows just kind of fall through.

If I had my choice of bed the head board would just be a 2 inch think slab of walnut.

I hate those metal bars, when you bash your head on (or between) those things it sucks, had to deal with that as a kid.

Like others have said, the frame head and foot board doesn’t really matter. The bars do make it hard for you to rest against to watch TV though. With that said, you definitely can tie and handcuff things to that very easily. Take that as you will.

Here is my 2¢

how many people are going to see inside your bedroom? And of those how many will question your masculinity because of the bed frame or room decor?

If you are really against whatever she has her heart set on, use it as leverage to compromise on something else if she gets the bed frame she chooses, you pick out what sheets go on the bed.

Side note, my Mrs. said the Evo bed is a cool bed. Would it be a great Daily? Probably not, but it’s neat

Check Macy’s. They sometimes have great specials and discounts. I got my new bed there and I IKEA’d the rest.

I prefer a solid headboard because I can lean against it and read but give her whatever she wants as long as it’s within budget and you don’t hate it.

I will say I hate having a million foofoo pillows to throw off the bed to sleep. And I would prefer having a headboard I could lay back against

It would be a nightly.

Nobody’s seeing it but me and I want to get in our bed not her bed. Just one of those things about how I feel getting into it.

The guys least concerned with not appearing “girly” are generally the onces who appear less “girly”.

I agree with you though about metal bed frames. Too cold and uninviting. Unless they’re fancy ornate wrought-iron. In that case the more ornate the more inviting, with the mediaeval solidity of it. You can avoid floral patterns sure, but wrought-iron is badass just by nature of it.

The fact she allows you — even invites   you — to share said bed with her might be impetus to allow her some extra say in the selection of same. That’s how I’d roll, anyhow, having enjoyed sharing Mrs. O.C.’s bed for the past 28 years...
