Driven some pretty crazy/flashy cars in the past, but the Evora in orange gets by far the most attention, which is fine unless its some of the angry negative attention. This is a big surprise to me cause I’ve never had that happen before. In the past week:

I’ve been flicked off while I was just driving normally on the highway,

Had a car swerve into my lane on one of those 2 lane left turns into two lanes, I honked and they hardcore deliberately tried to swerve into me again. This was pretty scary.

While filling up on gas a guy drove by and yelled “fuck you, you rich white fuck.”

This is the minority as most people are awesome, but daily driving this car is actually a little scary now.

Pic for your time :)

And this is the kind of stuff that makes me a little glad I no longer have the Porsche and 5-series and now rock a minivan.

I always buy depreciated, unique sports cars and just had a Cayman S. Never had any issues before on the road. Co-workers have made snide comments but telling them that their pickups cost more usually shuts them up pretty quickly.

Mr. Regular touched on this in his Elise review. Lotus’s just look way more expensive than they actually are and the bright color draws even more attention.

It’s true and I remember that one, but I had a red Elise for 2 years and never had anything negative except for boy racers wanting to drag race at stoplights.

I’d probably pick up a dash cam. I have an anker C1 that I’m pretty happy with.

My dad even noticed this when he switched from a new Ford to a new BMW. Nothing as bad as what you’ve unfortunately experienced, but people were certainly less nice and more aggressive towards him on the road.

Gorgeous car you’ve got their though!

Very sad. It’s not *that* pricy of a car. But it looks stunning in that orange.

Must just be the orange ones then.

I’ve had nothing but positive attention in the 348 so far. It seems like drivers are more likely to crash into me while not paying attention. Honestly, it’s probably just me noticing more though.

Beautiful Evora! It was on my short list of cars to buy. Maybe I’ll add it to the next list if it proves to be reliable

when you drive a small sports car, it’s a lot like riding a motorcycle in that you have to constantly assume people don’t see you and it’s wise to always plan an escape route. Riding a bike has made me a much more aware and cautious driver for sure.

haha yeah it set me back around 45ish. Orange was the only car the wife would let me get, so I’ve been looking for one in my price range for a couple years. Cant wait to move to GA where there are some proper curvy roads. el paso sucks.

It seems worse than when I’m in my miata which is smaller in every dimension. Plus, a lot less red haha. Maybe the proportions make it look like I’m further away than I really am?

Really? That is so weird. I hate that about people. Just because they can’t afford a nicer car or something. I mean I scrape buy to own a nice car because that is what I am into. As they say you can’t race a house.

Also beautiful Evora. I think that is one car Lotus got really right.

Same with me. A deployment is really the main reason I could afford it. The thing is the guy that yelled at me was in a somewhat newer caddy and the swerver was in a 2010ish IS250.

I don’t think Lotus has ever gotten a car right haha, but the driving feel is worth all the little problems.

Really no such issues down here in SoCal. But yeah, going cross country I’ve encountered quite a bit of attention in a 18yo 911.

I’m in El Paso. The food here is good and that’s about it. Moving in January to Atlanta area, imagine less trouble.

Really, those are weird cars to be yelling and swerving from. Must be tiny dick syndrome. So don’t worry too much.

Really? Why not? Did you forget about the Seven?

I like mine for the security factor if anything happens. It takes away the he said she said part of the equation if it captures it. I am sorry that this is happening to you. It’s not okay to try to hit people on the roads for any reason. I do like your Evora and wish you and it the best. There’s a grey one that I’ve seen in my area a few times and I think they look fantastic.

Appreciate it Captain (I too am a captain for a few more months haha). Anker C1 ordered via prime this afternoon! I hope I never need to thank you for it again, but you never know.

Yeah I did forget about the seven. I love Lotus and will continue to buy their depreciated models until I have enough to one day buy one new, but they sure have some poor design and weird reliability issues on their cars. Them not being perfect is really what endears me to them. With the cayman everything just “fit” perfectly and was crafted so well. The door shutting noise was gloriously quiet. It was boring. I look at my stupid high, easily scuffed, leather door sills with a smile as I awkwardly (although not Elise awkwardly) climb in and out of the car.

It’s funny, I just took the 348 out and someone yelled “douchebag” out their window, directed at me. I jinxed myself!!

It’s interesting timing - I just saw my first Evora on the road today - it was black with a few red trim bits. It took me a second to recognize what it was.

10/10 would own an Elise over the Cayman. That is why I love British cars. They are always a bit quirky and something is usually broken or breaking and that is just fun.

Annnnnnnd that’s why I drive a Volvo. At least in the States, no one gives a second glance even as you bomb down the road in turbocharged glory on a Scandinavian leather sofa. That said, I’m really, really sorry to hear that these sorts of things happen to you—the Evora is on my list of practical dream cars (it just looks so RIGHT and also because Lotus), and it’s awful to hear that some fucktards just can’t fucking see past their fucking noses to understand how stupid they’re being. I’m sorry about the expletive overload, but I’ve had just about enough of people judging others based on their car, or their appearance, or both. As a mixed race member of the LGBT+ community, equality extends both ways, and you can’t be hostile to someone just because they’re a “rich white fuck” or look like one. Ok, I’m done ranting, I needed that. Have a T350, another attainable dream car (though in no way practical).
