1) Subaru floors are *NOT* flat and the factory seat mount holes are neither level, nor square. Not. even. close.
2) You can get the driver’s seat out of a wrecked ‘05 WRX for $35!
3) The driver’s seat from an ‘05 WRX is damn comfy!

I have a Merkur XR4Ti passenger seat in the rafters above the garage I plan to turn into a sim rig one day. The drivers seat has been an office chair for several years now.

I have a old Honda Civic seat. I had a circle track race seat for the first month. But the constant climbing over the (metal) side bolsters got old real quick.

What wheels/shifter/pedals are you using? I’ve been in somewhere between abandoning and rebuilding my sim rig for months since my wheel took a crap with under 30 hours of use.

Logitech G29 and shifter. Nothing too high end, but I like three pedals and a stick... Even if I like to drive manual in my daily life, this setup has definitely confirmed that the speed-idiots are right and flappy-paddles are faster around the track. I have also been using this to practice my left-foot-braking and heal-and-toe...

Cool - hopefully the hardware holds up for you. I bought a G27 and it sat around for about a year with minimal usage until I finished building the sim. With under 30 hours of total usage, the wheel broke (loses calibration/center rapidly) and since I had it for over a year, no warranty or anything. I’m not replacing it with another logitech wheel for sure. At the same time, I don’t know that it’s worth it to me to drop a grand on a fanatec or similar setup as opposed to just dismantling the seat/frame and getting back some floor space.

I’ve had good luck with Logitech wheels in the past, but I must admit the G29 doesn’t feel as “well built” as it’s price increase over the old Driving Force would imply... and yeah, the Fanatecs are just too freakin’ expensive... the good Thrustmasters are little easier to stomach, but I still balk at the idea of $425 for a wheel and three pedals...

My upstairs is currently stripped down to the studs and is in the middle of renovations. And part of the renovations is my man cave! This means that I get to start construction on my sim rig with the front passenger bucket out of a Chrysler Conquest TSi that I got at a Pick ‘n’ Pull.
