With a brand new eighteen month approval in hand they are on site working the Monterrey area fires. Saving our wineries and car collections and keeping Laguna Seca cool. Technology and systems pioneered by a now bankrupt Evergreen was purchased and revised into the current state of 747 awesome sauce delivery services. This pours ten times what a P-3 Orion can hold and takes thirty minutes to refill after all 24,000 gallons is dropped.
With that said, It appears these Chilean folks love to see it up close. I don’t know about you, but I really have to point out what we learned about watching group B rally cars up close; it can kind of get people hurt.

Half-hour refills seems like way too long. Does it have to land every time? Cause that’s annoying.

Well there is no other way, plus this carries a lot more so far less trips than the smaller plane. If they are cleared to land and take off quick it wouldn’t be much time other than the filling up.

It’s not one drop, its however long they want the chutes open. Like a nitrous button. So they can orbit a bit with a couple hits.

Well I’m no engineer but filling water from something you are sitting in VS filling a plane with a chemical from some rig they transported is probably a lot different.

The Mars (and most other bombers) carries the foaming and gelling agents on board and injects them during flight. Skim the top of the water with scoops down and ram the water in.

I’m from Chile, where this supertanker was quite useful in the biggest forest fires we’ve ever had, here it was filled with firetrucks and pools and when they got the hang of it they managed to fill it in 13 minutes.

I’m mostly just a big fan of the Mars bombers. ;) It’s really cool to see a warbird still in the air and working.
I’m sure the super tanker is effective enough to make up for what I won’t even guess at as to costs to keep it in the air. This has been a nasty year for fires everywhere.

Based in Colorado Springs, CO! They have contracted sites all over the World were they can land and fill-up quick with water or other “stuff”. Pretty cool plane.

I love that plane so much. That thing was the highlight of Oshkosh 2016 for me

I once was in a boat underneath its wing. Several of my childhood friends (or I guess their parents) had cabins at Sproat Lake. Seeing it in the air was always cool.

How about a KC-747 to refill the tanks in mid-air?
