In this second installment of Sounds of Things I own we listen to all the various noises made by the Mercedes-Benz 240D. Enjoy.
This might be the only other one of these because I don’t think I own anything else with a bevy of interesting sounds.

Just answered my own question ... what a magnificent machine.

I like! My family has owned Benz’s over the years and the sounds bring back memories.

You’re missing a cylinder.
I just I jest, but 240D/300Ds sound more like diesels than some new diesel trucks. I miss my 300D so much

Fun, this is a cool idea. And not just a 240D, but a 240D automatic - something my fintail can dust in a drag race :)
I should do something like this for the fintail. There is something immensely satisfying about opening and closing the doors - especially the rear doors, along with the starting procedure, and closing the hood.

Just watch the first installment. Oh man, the sound of the back of the camera opening is just so evocative for me...

Do one for your car! I’d love to see it.

I’ve still got my old Honeywell Pentax SP1000.

I really need to, and show my kids how to as well.

Most definitely.

I’ll have to make that a project, and work on my phone-video skills. I made a few basic cold start videos years ago, but they aren’t pretty.

True, my W123 has a satisfying click when you close the boot etc... One thing you are missing is the turbo sound! I do wish the 300Ds came with the idle adjustment in the cabin, no idea why they deleted that.

Looks just like my auto 300D to me, when he did the shift noises.
