But I test drove this 996 Turbo yesterday and I’m suddenly questioning whether I need to spend 40% more on a Turbo than a base C2 to gain a whole bunch of speed and grip that I’ll use about 20% of on a regular basis. Age is catching up to me and I don’t appreciate it.

This was my same reasoning for buying a Camaro SS rather than a Camaro ZL1.
Also something about $65K for a Camaro. That’s Corvette Grand Sport money right there...

i’ve had a C2 since 2010. During that time i’ve test driven 2 996 turbos, and the speed, acceleration an grip are at least 3-4 steps above. However, each time i drove the TTs, i thought i’d be getting myself into too much trouble, and settled back into my C2.
the C2 has been perfectly capable, and has suited all of my needs. with a set of ps2's, you’ll be hard pressed to find its handling limits on public roads. If youre really into off-the-line acceleration, and 60-100 acceleration on a highway, then you might want to double check the turbo. :)

You own a C2 already? What you need is a single turbo conversion and you basically have a GT2. Tire width could be a problem depending on how much power you wanna put down idk.

Step 2: Spend $5k on new IMS bearing, clutch and Wavetrac LSD
Step 3: Enjoy car
Step 4: Don’t profit, for same reasons you got the thing for cheap

This was the exact plan until I was dumb enough to go drive a Turbo. Now I’m torn.
