Kinja'd!!!

Small wheels and cheap tires, but in pretty good condition for its age.

Any time I see a car with popups parked with the popups up I assume they are broken.

Also I think those wheels are the stock fuchs, just not painted anymore.

I think the same thing every time I see popups popped up.

I do believe that those are genuine Fuchs, but they seem to be a little rare on 944s. And small, with such tall sidewalls. They’re probably 15 inchers, which by today’s standards are tiny. Hell, even my base-model minivan has 16s, and I think I might have even found a set of 18s to throw on there.

I’d imagine they’re the same size as the stock fuchs on my friend’s 944 which are 16s - not that small.

I can’t remember the exact tire size, but I know they were 15s. I had to find out who still made such tall tires these days, and not surprisingly it was some Chinese no-name.

Then again, if I ever get a 944 I want it to ride on 15" cookie cutters...

Yeah 13s for the rx-7 are not plentiful, but Federal has recently resumed making a decent 205/60/R13 (I think, might be 65 profile) that should work nicely when I replace the Chinese no-names on there in the spring.

I had 14s on the Chevelle, but went to 15x7s when I swapped over to rally wheels and front discs, 15s aren’t too bad (at least you can get BFG T/As) but I remember having trouble in 14 inch even. 16's are hit or miss these days it seems, with most anything performance picking up at 17+

Oh yeah, 205/60R13s. I helped a friend of mine back in high school find a set of those for his ‘78 Rabbit, complete with some gold BBS mesh single-piece wheels. They looked great on that car, especially with the dark grey paint (although they would have looked good with the original dark orange as well). I was a little jealous of the extra width, but overall the 185/60HR14 P6s on my Rabbit GTI were probably better performers than his Comp T/As.

I was in a brakes and suspension class at school and offered to swap out the tires for him. My instructor was showing me how to use the tire mounting machine and proceeded to fold over the lip and crack it. D’oh! He split the cost of the replacement wheel, which was not cheap (especially on a college student’s budget), but all we could find was one with a polished rim instead of silver like the originals.
