How’s this for German engineering
More complicated than necessary

That’s an airfilter? So is that a plastic structure with a U shaped foam piece?

sadly, yes, it is an air filter and pretty much just a plastic U with some foam

I would get it if just the foam was serviceable, but as it is, CP

It’s not complicated at all, it’s just a plastic housing with some foam in it. Just like in most other cars. The issue seems to be that it isn’t serviceable and thus will be more expensive to replace.
I do wonder why they do this though. Is it to make more money on parts/servicing?

i don’t think it was too badly priced though, audi service parts are generally good value
it’s just over engineered for what it is.

Cabin air filter from VAG, eh?

nope, it’s the main air filter. Q7 (4M) six cylinder (CRT motor)

I thought it was a ceiling mounted projector, wrapped in packing foam.

Possibly less install time during assembly?

Seems plausible. There are fewer parts this way.

That’s what I thought as well.
