I’ve posted about this truck before, and I think it is pretty darn cool.

You may be right, but from what I gather (and what they said in the first video), it looks like they wanted to do a basic test to see if everything worked once you got off the road. Not sure they’ll go for the all-out rock crawling market as the target: this will be pointed at the luxury 4x4's of this world, or in a similar price range.

Does this thing have 4 wheel steering? Seems like that would be so easy on an EV. Just make the same motor/axel/hub assembly for all four wheels. Have a switch in the car for normal, crab walk, and tight radius turning. I know this isn’t a rock crawler, but even on a trail that would be super useful.

Interesting idea, but I don’t believe this thing uses hub motors. They are quite rare in EVs right now.

Oh I was thinking it had a motor at each wheel. Even with two motors you could make the same motor/axel assemble front and rear, and just run one of the backwards, not like a motor cares which way it spins.

Am sure an EV truck could do some very creative things! EV has limitations, but also advantages. This is a “through the road” system, where there is no mechanical bits linking front and rear axles.
So via software, they’ll be able to to things you cannot do with a standard 4x4, or cannot do as easily. Like letting one axle freewheel for a bit, or do crazy things like very precise power application at both ends, independent of each other, say rear at 78% power, front at 44%...

But you are right that one motor per wheel would be fantastic! Per-wheel torque vectoring, for both traction and regenerative braking. Each wheel could decide it needs 1%, 100% or -25% torque. All because you are not tied to a single source of torque (an ICE engine).
Imagine the possibilities!

Yeah, they thought of that.
The tall ride height and watertight battery enclosure gives the B1 the capability to wade through almost 5 feet of water.
