I actually ended up with a 2016 Kia Picanto with all the extras. 5 1/2 years of warranty, just 15k miles. Heated seats, heated steering wheel, electric windows, electric and heated mirrors, block heater, interior heater, DAB+ radio, +++ All this for just $16k (I know that’s not cheap for some of you guys, but a brand new one with no optional extras is $20k here in Norway.

It looks nose heavy, SWB, hard tires. The oppo should be easy to achieve in it.

I see those drive around often here in Holland. They’re cute, little cars. I always find it surprising how much new tech they can stuff in these small cars. It has more quirks than my old man’s Audi. Congratz on the purchase!

Also: Im wondering, a similar Up with everything you have on the Picanto, how much would that be over there? I just want to know how much VW is charging for every box you tick off on that PoS of theirs (The Up isn’t a PoS really, I just hate VW with everything I have..).

Yeeaahh. about that.. uhm.. about 66hp :P

It’s got 165/60-14" now, will be swapping those for some 185/45-15"

A tight hair pin turn make it possible. You encourage the family of hamsters under the hood they might make it go fast.

An up! with the same equipment and the same year would be about $4k more. With 3 years less warranty.

Ouch! The KIA sounds like a very smart choice.

Clues that you live in the cold North...

Heated seats

Heated wheel

Block heater

Interior heater (what’s that?)

With 5 1/2 years of factory warranty on the drivetrain, 10 1/2 years of rust warranty and 3 1/2 years of paint warranty left.. Yeah, it was a nobrainer. Wish the mpg was a bit better though. but 57 mpg on average ain’t that bad. Better than my Saab 9000, that was 19 mpg :P

Hey now.. it’s not THAT cold up here, from november to february I’d say we’ve got an average low of -13F with an average high of 23F.

This is an interior heater, perhaps you call it a cabin heater/coupé heater? http://www.defa.com/en/automotive/warmup/products/interior_heaters/

We don’t do deg F but I suppose that’s very cold. Never heard of that kind of heater.

Interesting, I hadn’t heard of that kind of heater before - I’ve heard of fuel-fired heaters for cabin preheating, but not electric heaters for that.

Kia seemed to have really up their game. I had a Kia Sedona as a rental for my trip, it wasn’t a horrendous POS like most people say of past Kias. It was a midlevel LX+ but it was already very well equipped.

I’ve never seen an interior heater in the US. So you plug it in like with a block heater?

Sorry :) I’m used to translate C to F for the american crew.. -13F = -25C

Yup. A plug in the front bumper usually. Block heater, interior heater and battery charger all connected to one plug. In my case it’s all on a timer I can controll via my phone as well.

Coolness! Kia and Hyundai have been making some very nice products in the last few years. :)

We don’t get the Picanto here in Canada, but I have a 2009 Hyundai Accent that’s been very reliable for me!

Pretty nice cars for the money indeed. But still not as “cool” as an Opel Adam, but those are 20% more money for less car :P

Very sensible, but... No Saab turbo? :’(

I have driven a Picanto. It was a grei bil, but the clutch was too numb for my taste.

No Saab turbo :( Had to be sensible for once. I’ve owned 30 -35 cars the last 20 years... time to be sensible I guess. Part time job only.. Some months I get $6k, some months I get $1k.
