!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! After having driven both, I can understand their judgment. I wonder how different their verdict would have been it it was an LCI E90 vs LCI F30.

I cant say i agree with the new car being prettier. The 90s were all classy outside in a looking down its nose at you. The newer car looks like its trying to change its stance but just wasn quite to it.
Also, larger sidewalls make me happy

The pre-LCI E90 was a little goofy looking in sedan form, though. I think that’s why they picked the F30. Neither is all that pretty IMHO.

If I read this right, they compared the early E90, *without* the sport package, to an F30 *with* the sport package, and the E90 nipped it? That’s pathetic.
Now take your car (M-sport, and I think it’s an LCI?) and throw it against the F30 (as they mention at the end). No contest.
As a BMW fan, this is depressing - but not surprising.

My E92 is a pre-LCI, but you didn’t get much on the LCI for the E92. I agree, my E92 would trounce a pre-LCI F30. A lost LCI-F30 would be pretty evenly matched; I actually like the way the LCI F30 drives.

Yeah, I’ve actually driven all of those *except* the post LCI F30 -which I’m eager to try, as I’ll be in the market for a new car in the spring. It may depend on whether I can convince the wife to let me get a manual - if so, the F30 might be the only car on my shopping list (seriously - I need a decent sized 4 door with room in the back, what else has a stick?).

I had an LCI F30 as a loaner, and it was pretty good to drive. It’s no E90 M3, but then few cars are. I would honestly get an LCI F30 with my own money one day.

I think it’s all about how you option out the LCI F30. If I do get one, I’ll be ordering it, so I can spec it out right. It can still be pretty soft, and that’s what the dealers around here stock for the most part.

Life cycle impulse, it’s what bmw calls their mid life cycle facelift.

Mazda6 and Honda Accord are the only two I can think of.

I’m also heavily biased toward RWD, too - but I’ll be checking those out. If I could actually get a fairly loaded manual Accord (hahaha NOPE), it would be a pretty serious contender.

The 2017.5 Mazda6 Touring now has heated seats and Nav standard for the same $25K price, and that has a manual option. Besides a GTI that might be what I get to replace my E46.

Hum, that’s a lot of car for $25k - and that’s at MSRP, no discounts. Still no sunroof which is annoying but that’s a bargain.

I remember reading this when it first came out. Sad!
