Can eat my ass. While investigating the drip drip drip of coolant on the Eldorado, I touched the petcock. It quickly relieved itself of its position and fell out, shattered in two pieces. The Eldorado then relieved itself of all remaining coolant
I R&R’d the radiator today and replaced the petcock. Surprisingly, particularly for a FWD V8, it was one of the easiest jobs I’ve ever done. In and out in two hours
This Eldo needs a project name. I’m thinking something like ‘Project IStillRunDoe’. Taking all name applications :) For those who don’t know or don’t remember, it’s a purple 1994 Eldorado ETC

But
But it’s far from slow
I mean sure, these days a 7-second 0-60 isn’t much, but in 1994? In a two-ton yacht? Notbad.jpg

Wait, what? A 1994 Eldorado does 0-60 in 7 seconds? What?

I thought of the name because I had, at one time, wanted to get one a 335d in a color as the one pictured. Was going to do a couple of mods to it and call it the aubergine torque machine.
I figured with RWD and a V8 that it would be a good name for a purple Eldorado.

That was in 1994. What does it do now?

Purple is the color of royalty, and every time you drive it, it’s a gamble. So, Project Casino Royale.

Surprisingly, it doesn’t. Save for probably 50k of unmaintained miles...

I had a conquest back in college. It was clear the alternator was bad, but what luck, the local library had both factory service manuals. I flipped it open, just to see if there was anything special....
Flatrate was like 5.5 hours and started with ‘evacuate the refrigerant from the AC system.’ I about died.
I looked down there and refused to believe it. I jacked up the front wheel and took theplastic splash liner out of the wheel well and had the alternator in my hand in about ten minutes.

Sometimes those long jobs are a lot shorter when you don’t follow their rules

In other news: the radiator, hoses, and all passages I could see into at the time are clear of crud, grime, Dex-Cool, oil, and other coolant-unrelated substances
Like, near-new clear
