Bye weeks in week 5 suck.
I probably won’t watch a lot of the games this weekend because my partner got a surprise weekend day off. You know what that means, right? *plays sexy music* LAUNDRY.
The Patriots beat Tampa Bay because the Bucs had no kicker. They’re 3-2 but they should be 1-4. They may still have Tom Brady, but do they strike fear into anyone right now? Not me. The Broncos held them to 16 points last year, but the Denver offense was DOA. This year they have an actual running game.
Let’s see what we’ve got...ugh. Only one CBS game? That’s annoying. We get the afternoon Ravens at Raiders matchup. I mean, Derek Carr’s out, but EJ Manuel looked good when he came in last week against the Broncos until the pick he threw at the end. And the Ravens are bad. The Raiders probably win at home. On Fox we get Panthers at Lions early (GO LIONS), and Packers/Cowboys late. I have no gut feeling on this one so let’s say Cowboys since it’s in Dallas. Oh, Sunday Night should be GOOD. KC at Houston? This is going to sound contradictory, but here goes. KC is a good team that doesn’t get much real respect, yet I don’t completely trust them. Alex Smith looks awfully non-Alex-Smithish this season. How sustainable is that? I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. I think it’ll be a tough game for the Texans, but I think (and hope) they can beat KC tonight. MNF has the Bears against ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzz*snork* huh?
The rest: Bills should beat the Bengals. SHOULD. We’ll see. Jets at Browns, I guess Jets? Niners at Colts seems like a Niners win to me. Except for the first game, SF has been in every game. Dolphins probably lose to the Titans. The Giants better knock off the Chargers, because I think the Broncos will kill them next week and they’d be 0-6 if they lose to the Chargers too. I think the Eagles beat the Cards. Jacksonville at Pittsburgh feels like one of those games that Steeler fans counted as a win when they looked at the schedule at the start of the year, and then the Jags come in and end up beating them. I think the Rams beat the Seahawks in front of what looks like twelve people but is actually 60,000. That stadium is weird. Broncos, Falcons, Saints, and Skins are all on a bye this week.
In closing, GO TEXANS! And also the Lions.

Laundry day. Yeah, sounds about right, even if there’s no one else in the house but me.
At least there’s Canadiens - Rangers on later today.

I’m happy we have a bye this week. Too many injured players

Now I’ll fuck off and die. That’s what you want right?

Wait- the Bears are on MNF? What idiot made that call?
I hate it when the Bears don’t play at noon on Sunday. How am I supposed to sleep from 12-3 when there are good teams playing?

I seriously hate it when the Broncos have games that aren’t at 2:25 PM local time. It throws off my Sunday.
MNF slate really has been terrible for a while with a few good games sprinkled in occasionally. I guess I can live with it since I don’t have cable.

I can’t believe how healthy the Broncos are right now. It makes me paranoid.

The Cards are not good. I’ll be really surprised if the Eagles don’t win.

I’m in favor of a constitutional amendment to require that the Bears kick off at noon Central on all Oct-Dec Sundays. We can include the Broncos (and the whole AFC West) at 225 Mountain, Patriots and Cowboys in prime time, etc.
Wait, scratch the last part, no one wants that. They should play at 3 am. On Tuesday. In the dark.

You’re still afraid of the Pats. Look inside yourself, you know it to be true. You want someone else to come along and do the dirty work.
It’s nice not to have to dedicate a Sunday, though. Today is for a deep clean out of the basement. So much useless craaaaaaaaap.

Things you learn as a philly fan: never be too sure of any game. But yeah it shouldn’t be too tough, we’re looking solid enough. Hard to avoid that loss to the chiefs though.

Nah. Besides, we don’t exactly have too much trouble against the Pats in the playoffs when they have to come here. :)
We decided to go to this new place near Stapleton that I can best describe as ‘hipster mall’. We’re waiting for a table at Denver Biscuit Company so we can have a (very) late breakfast.

Thanks! It is, but this is a real brick-and-mortar hipster mall. Literally. There’s exposed brick and mortar everywhere.

The Bears play tomorrow night and my TV crapped the bed.. (A new one is not in the budget right now) Yes they are sucking but I’m not jumping ship. I’m interested to see what happens with Trubiski.

Beats watching the Bears crap the bed - which is what I expect tomorrow.
Trubisky may or may not be the real deal, but his receivers, O line, and coaching staff suck.

He did look good. Glennon looked good too. The line looked like crap though. We’ll see. I may hit a bar for the first time in two years just for this one. May..

Right?! Glennon is good! The O line is shit. We can’t keep blaming a QB for being hustled. It’s down to coaching and management.

Glennon made some horrible decisions/throws without pressure, too, I’m not a big fan of him. Trubisky will be an upgrade once he gets settled.
But the core problem is with the front office and coaching staff.
Well, really it’s Virginia and the rest of the McCaskey family but they’re not going anywhere.

“But the core problem is with the front office and coaching staff”
God bless you!
You’re right. The problem is that Virginia is going to live longer than me. She’s like 140 now? The McCaskeys seem inhuman. The ennui starts at the management level and works it’s way down. Cutler’s complete lack of emotion and the Bears performance was bred in the front office.
Still not jumping ship.

Yeah, I’m frustrated as hell, but I’m a Bears fan for life. Stuck with them through thick and thin - mostly thin of course.
Want a real kicker - are you in the Chicago area/do you know where Virginia lives? She lives (as she has forever) in Des Plaines, a few blocks from Lattof YMCA/Cumberland Circle - in a ‘50's brick ranch, maybe 1,800 SF. And probably nearly a billionaire. SMDH.

I used to be a Chicagoan. I’m in the DBQ area now. I know they live like misers though. They think they can take it with them.
College stuff is huge out here so I fly a Hawkeye flag to fit in. I hate college ball but it keeps me alive.

Misers is right. For sure.
Yeah, I’m not a big college fan, either - for one thing, there’s no way I can watch Saturday AND Sunday with a little one now. Besides, I went to Illinois, they’re terrible.

I don’t understand Iowa. These folks are rabid about College ball. I love the enthusiasm but don’t understand it.
I wish the Bears were a bit more like Green Bay. (Yeah, I said it!)

You mean like how the Packers front office is actually fairly smart? And tries to win? And they have support from ownership? And real, live, professional quarterbacks?
Yeah, that would be nice. As an added bonus, I have lots of family with Wisconsin ties, so there’s a lot of Packer fans at Thanksgiving/Christmas get-togethers. I try to avoid talking about football at those...
