...so Malaise!
The adapter is the best part as that means you could hook a cassette adapter up to it and stream Bluetooth through a factory 8track stereo! :P

There for a while you could build an entire early CJ from a JC Whitney catalog. I remember looking through the big catalog my dad had when I was about 14 and he told me that so I decided to test it. It came out to nearly $20k.

The van scene was huge back then. I’m old enough to actually order some crap out of one of these. A multiple sound horn and a hippie foot gas pedal.
Lol good times

In 1971 I bought a Fiat camshaft and head gasket set with other items including 2 day shipping for under $60 from Whitney.

Any car with an auto needs these.

My first car a 1968 Fiat 850 Spider with a rusted out drivers floor, leaky top, 3 good tires and a bad cam. It had 75k miles on it and the prior owner gave it zero love . The paint was even so bad that I spent about $75 at Earl Scheib autobody for a cheap repaint. Spent $500 for the car and put $400 on repairs.I did some of the work. After the cam, floor repairs, tire, muffler/header , plugs and paint I drove it for over 2 years. Got $1000 on trade towards a new car so I profited . It was a fun car and strangely more reliable than the Triumph TR4 I had several years later.

Thanks for the story - and for giving it at least a little love in it’s lifetime! :)
I wish I had the skills as getting one and fixing it up would be a fun project...I’m partial to the much uglier 850 sedans though, but I am weird :P

I’ve thought if I ever found an 850 Sport Coupe I’d consider it. There was one in the orange/yellow color in Kitty Hawk back then. One of the very few Fiats on the Carolina beachs in those years. There were a couple of 124 Spider, maybe 3 sedans , some 128 and a lone 1500 Spider.
