This sounds like a horrible game.

It is. The premise of it is that you live in San Fransico, have a $1,000 a month mortgage, and decide to lease a car and become an Uber driver full-time. I think the dude’s fucked from the git-go.

Also you only get one week to pay your mortgage, because I guess that’s how mortgages work in DA BIG CITAH!

Where in SF does a 1000 a month mortgage make sense? (unless its like a 400 year loan)

The gym membership netted me an extra $30 after I stopped to shower there.

I wish there was an option to slap the person that dented my car door though. I chose to report it and missed out on the weekend bonus.

To wash up. Saves time over driving all the way home, particularly if you’ve driven hours from your cheapo shack in the sticks to the city to chase business and you sleep in your car.

Same I would have gotten my mortgage payment too. I didn’t know reporting the incident suspended my account.

Calling it a “game” is a bit of a stretch, but this is how I did:

Kinja'd!!!

69 hours of driving in easy mode, 87 hours in hard mode. Honestly, putting in 70-90 hours a week would suck. I feel like the $/hr just isnt there after expenses. I think I’d rather seek out an unskilled hourly job elsewhere especially since those types of jobs sometimes come with training or at least real-world resume experience that could result in you getting a promotion or a raise at some time.

Also, overtime is a thing. We have semi-skilled labor jobs with a base rate of I think 15 or 16/hr. But we guarantee 40 hrs/wk even if we shut down for a day and most of them do 50-60/wk between extra hours at the end of the day and saturday or sunday shifts.

Even if you work enough overtime to net the same take-home as ubering, you’d be working less hours which would mean less burnout. I’m hoping your employer eventually gives a raise or a promotion too!

Out of interest what are normal working hours? I’ve done 10 hours a day for the past month without a day off... You get used to long hours.

The game is kind of lame, but it’s a good way to kill some time.

I’ve played like 5 times now, still haven’t been able to make the mortgage payment. On one go I made like $300 for the week after I paid for expenses and a $240 ticket for stopping in a no stopping zone (fuck that passenger. If you don’t she gives you a shit review).

That’s something that, IMO, varies based on the individual and their situation. If you’re fresh out of college and saving for a car/house/etc, maybe an 80h workweek is normal. If you’re 70 years old and getting a bit frail, maybe you stick with 20 or 30 if it’s a more labor-intensive position. Pay has a say in this factor as well.

I find it hard to see how an adult working 90hrs a week can take care of their children.

Honestly my work is partly why I don’t have children. Although I still don’t envy people who do work as a Uber driver, it seems more trouble than what it’s worth.

Yeah, and we also allow for position transfers so if you need fewer hours or want to do something different, you get preferential treatment and the first shot at applying for any openings. But that seems pretty standard in the area. And given how many uber/lyft drivers seem to do it as their “overtime” after a full time job, I’m guessing the pay isn’t quite there yet in my area.

I tried to not be home in time to help my son with homework, I wasn’t given the option. How do only 80-something percent of people help with homework?

Maybe that’s only an option if you live in Sacramento. Although if you live there there’s no way you can go to the birthday dinner. You click the option and it just says you ate in SF by yourself :/
