My E92 M3 is in for service (apparently outside of warranty by a few miles) for a throttle position actuator...I am less than pleased.

Bert Smith BMW..sigh...they gave me an X1 as a loaner. FWD white soulless POS. Which of course had tire warnings go off as I left the parking lot. Then my loaner was also in the service lot.

My E92 is getting long in the teeth so there is a debate raging on getting a new machine, but I don’t know what as I want to buy a house soon and I don’t want another car payment.

But I should just drive to Tampa and get this:

God I remember when my dealer first got a couple X1’s...they were bad.

I’m so sorry

Go back to the dealer and tell them it’s broken and get a new one (which will probably be a grey X1 FML)

Oh, as soon as the alarm went off I turned around. I threw the keys back at them. They drove it off to repair it and give it back to me. I was just standing there shaking my head.

Ugh... probably worth a call to corporate to see if they’ll goodwill you the repair under warranty because you’re so close and this is such a prevalent problem.

I’ve been lucky with these so far. [knocks wood]

Any sign they were going out, or was it just a massive failure with codes flashing?

I noticed it a week ago. It went in limp mode as I was in the work parking lot. I shut the engine off and turned it back on again to no issues. It happened 2 days later. I scheduled service immediately.

OK, X1 loaner aside (it’s free, so NBD), they shouldn’t make you wait while they ‘fix’ it (even if fixing means putting air in the tires and resetting the stupid light). That stinks.

A while back, I got a Lexus NX200t as a loaner, it’s highly underwhelming, too. Last one was an IS300 (the new one) which wasn’t bad, just slow.

It is tough to go from an M3 to a basic level BMW station wagon. Man, it just isn’t a good looking car. At least the Annapolis BMW dealership gave me a 435i. This is disgusting.

Heh. I’ve accidently made the left front tire squeek twice, but I think that is because it is a collosal POS. How do people hop in this thing and go, “Shucks, this is a nice car...I’d love to hoon around in this!” No...it is like trying to justfy that ugly couch at your grandmother’s house.

Seats are awful. It has the smallest rear view mirror I’ve seen and this includes a Lotus Evora. Granted the center headrest blocks what little you can see.

My M3 needs 2 throttle actuator banks. Sigh...
