Does anyone want a FX35 review? Borrowing it from the mother in law while the LS400 is having the speedo and radio fixed/exhaust leak repaired.

Yes. I’ve always found them interesting, but I don’t really know much about them.

I kind of had a feeling that his car was of interest. It was the original X6 imo and I’ve always loved them and had a couple friends that said it was a car they wanted to own at some point in their life.

In 2007 my advisor in grad school traded his old beige Accord for an FX35 in that weird burnt orange color. The X6 was still like half a year away and there was nothing else like it around. His wife got a Sky Rediline around that time. It was a pretty sweet two car garage. I rode in that FX35 once and that’s about my extent of my experience with them.

My parents had a friend with a burnt orange FX56. That thing was awesome.

What was the nature of your exhaust leak and how are they repairing it? I’ve got a 97 that leaks, and stinks up the cabin if I do any hard throttle. Did you have the same issue?

I feel like the FX35 sounds so much better than the G35 when it comes to exhaust sounds. The FX was definitely ahead of its time.

Catalytic converter was replaced and the gasket didn’t really fit nicely after 314,000 miles and 20 years in that exhaust. You may check there.
