Dd an m5, or an e63. I couldn’t find an updated picture so f10 vs w212. For me, I’d take the bmw, because it’s super comfortable if you spec it right. The Mercedes has a very stiff ride imho

E63, Mercedes has their shit together in the midsize segment, have a few friends with E-AMGs fantastic cars.

Easy choice, one has a stick the other does not. Also the F10 M5 retains hydraulic steering, which is fantastic. I’ve driven a DCT version and it was one hell of a drive.

As an E92 M3 driver, I am going AMG here. BMW has generally lost their focus lately. Merc making the CLA45 shows they are still interested in creating new and unique designs (even if they admitted they had no idea who they were selling the car too).

Additionally, the one that doesn’t have a stick is made by the company responsible for the 25-year import ban. So that’s 2 points for the M5.

Hadn’t thought about that.

The wagon one.

I’m biased against mercs, why? Eh it’s something to do i suppose. So in that completely unfounded environment of bias ill take the bimmer

No thanks. This is the better car.

6GC with a manual.

M5 for sure

BMW I guess, they haven’t nuked the stick yet right? If you can have a stick then that for sure. I guess still the M5 even if it has to be a dual clutch although I would have to drive them both first to decide.
Can I just have an E39 though? Pretty please? I feel like I should find a BMW sedan with a twin-turbo V8 and a manual transmission massively exciting but I just... don’t.

Hmmm choose between two ugly, bloated sedans with aspirations of former glory? I am going Mercedes on this one for the sole reason that the BMW dash is hideous. And so is the front end. And the back part.

Even this one is only down ~30-40hp.

Easy. M5.

I like the new Benz interiors better, so the newer E63.

M5, no hesitation

Are we talking current gen or a few years back? Because if its E60 M5 I would take an E55 or 63 all day over it.

You can use any gen

Good choice

The dct is fantastic

I’d go for the e39

I would take the M then. Current gen AMG’s are watered down to me.

Nothing better than an E-class, except an E-class AMG. AWD wagon, super reliable, proven tech, badass and classy.

Super reliable? Tell me more..

Most common repair on the pictured E63? Interior rattles maybe? Normally just need regular maintenance or software updates. Fantastic engine and the trans has been around since the early 00's and has been continually improved. Seriously, they mostly get tires, brakes, and regular services.

Would you say the same for the previous gen? I really like those, especially the wagon.

It’s faster, but I was missing the third pedal. According to a girl I have a fetish for manual BMWs.

And that’s not a bad thing at all

Previous gen meaning 211 (round headlights)? No. Definitely not. The M156 engine (6.3 NA) is super badass, but has some issues, that can be very expensive. Or do you mean pre-facelift 212 (angular headlights)? If the latter, then yes, they can be extremely reliable because they’re the same power train. But 2010 and 2011 model year 212 chassis still used the M156, albeit heavily updated and without many of the early issues. 212 (2010-2016) is the way to go, hands down. IMO it’s the best E to date, regardless of trim and engine packages.

I’d love me some Holden wagon

Ah, yes I was referring to the early W212's. Those are my favorite E’s. Just so good looking! Glad to know they are reliable... Gonna have to start examining the market for them.

They’re my favorite too. So awesome!
