It sounds pretty nasty. The “suspect” seemed to be using some kind of drum or belt fed machine gun. He did use really long bursts with lengthy loading times.

My brother is currently there on a business trip. He didn’t hear the actual shooting but he did witness the panicked people withdrawing the area. His colleagues were staying in the same hotel where the shooting was done from and they got locked up in there with all hotel’s lights turned off. But their group seems to alright.

I tuned into a live police scanner feed just as SWAT made entrance (explosive door breach) into the suspect’s 32nd floor hotel room and took him down.

This has been a true nightmare for all involved. I hope we find out why the shooter did it. I’m getting real tired of lone wolves.

One video was indeed taken by a very brave cameraman. Hardly no-one would stay and film while such shooting takes place.

Large panicked crowds have caused a great number of casualties. All evacuation plans fail if thousands of people will run in panic. Sometimes this even happens without a good reason. In this case running in panic was probably quite sensible choice. Hiding behind something works only if you know were the threat is coming from.
