No. Chevy sucks at advertising.

There’s something lame about police chases. Or an ad saying its heck on wheels.

That’s an understatement. My SS has had all of 20 bucks used for advertisement from GM in the last 4 years.

What’s funny is that your SS’s (damn that’s an awkward name) spiritual predecessor is the only GM thing I can think of off the top of my head that the ads are actually good for.

They didn’t really advertise my car. They kinda just assumed people were coming in to buy one way or another.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
This was a nice little homage though.

I still don’t know why the hell didn’t they call the SS the Impala SS, and say it was a special RWD V8 Impala.

I’d say call the Impala a Caprice, since it’s more similar in spirit to the Caprice than the Impala, and then do what you said.
But the reason for not doing that is probably that they figured it wasn’t worth turning their lineup upside down for a model that was dying anyway.

The Caprice name is already used as a cop car. It would have to be the Impala SS, and say it is different due to “nascar” rules. lol Make it the top of the line sedan, and price the regular impalas so the max is 38k.

So do what Ford does and call it the Police Interceptor.
Or better, just call it the PPV.

That is the full name of the Caprice cop car is the Caprice PPV. Caprice SS doesn’t have a nice ring to it, since in the 90s the SS version of the Caprice was the Impala SS. It’s probably why the car is called just the SS.

That’s what I’m saying. They were halfway there. Drop “Caprice” from the PPV, relocate “Caprice” to Impala, add “Impala” to SS.
But like I said I can see why they didn’t bother.
