CONTEXT:
I think this “stanced” thing is silly. I created the license plate with Photoshop.
(Alternative Fact: This car is cool.)

Way to politicize car culture :/

I like that car.
Not a fact that car isn’t cool.

What am I missing? What does this have to do with liberalism?
![]() 01/27/2017 at 18:41 |

Hahaha
How does that thing even work, anyway?
![]() 01/27/2017 at 18:45 |

That’s actually decent stance in comparison to these:
The one you posted doesn’t have overly stretched tires or is running such a dangerous combination of camber and no ride height that his rims are almost touching the fenders if it hits a bump (provided there’s any travel left in the suspension).
![]() 01/27/2017 at 18:46 |
|
That’s actually nowhere close to bad, camber-wise.

oops, wrong thread, and now I’m getting kinja’d.
![]() 01/27/2017 at 19:22 |

“ALTERNATIVE FACT” wouldn’t fit.
![]() 01/27/2017 at 19:23 |

Same.
![]() 01/27/2017 at 19:26 |

Why does the
stanced
thing appeal to you? My thing with cars has to do with practicality, except that I’d like to be able to burn rubber, which is
not
practical... When I look at that Miata, I see rear tires that are about to get eaten by the rear fender wells. And an undercarriage that’s going to get chewed up by speed bumps. And tires all around that are going to wear out unevenly. I don’t understand the appeal.

1. “Alternative Fact,” the meme I am trying to start in honor of the new POTUS, wouldn’t fit and
2. It ain’t a bro-truck and
C. I was in a hurry and couldn’t think of anything clever, so I resorted to trolling.
![]() 01/27/2017 at 19:29 |

I do not understand the appeal.

I think they’re all silly. But hey: whatever floats your boat.

He was probably budget-restricted somehow.
![]() 01/27/2017 at 19:39 |

Fair enough, I respect your opinion, but coming from the Miata community that sort of ride height is on the fence between too much and good for autocross/trackday.
![]() 01/27/2017 at 19:41 |

As a liberal who likes stanced Miatas:
![]() 01/27/2017 at 19:48 |
|
Now, as I would see things, lowering a car so it’s good on a track is a perfectly sensible thing to do. Removing the springs so the wheels hit the fender wells in order to achieve a certain appearance is something else entirely. I bet a Miata with a few basic mods is
mucho
fun on a track.

(O.C. chuckles... O.C. is liberal, but doesn’t care too much for Liberals when they get preachy and judgmental.)
No, mea culpa : the license plate is a troll thing and I can do better.
And for the record: I have nothing against the Miata as a spirited, rear-wheel-drive roadster. They’re fine cars. It’s just when kids take out the springs... And most of these “stanced” cars will never see a track, will they?
![]() 01/27/2017 at 19:56 |

I’m bueno with lowered cars if they see track time, autocross, or general canyon-carving activities, but it’s not my cup of tea to lower a car just to gain attention with no intentions of using it for handling benefits.

Oh I gotcha now. Just wanted to use that reaction pic.
I’m not huge on stance myself but I think it can be done well. It’s important to remember IMO that it’s really not much about practicality and drivability but about style and looking hardcore. Which is fine. Just a different ethos is all.
![]() 01/27/2017 at 20:08 |

But why?
Why go out of your way to make something political when most of us come here to avoid politics?
![]() 01/27/2017 at 20:17 |
|
Because I am greatly alarmed and there are a number of Oppos who share my alarm and we have excellent dialogue here. But like I said, in this particular case (C. above), it was kind of trollish and I can do better.

Stancing...”combining nonfunctional with less attractive while diminishing neither”
[with apologies to Scott Adams]
Haha me neither.
Another observation comes to mind ala J. Foxworthy but will hold back — don’t want anyone to feel they’ve been less than excellent toward ;)

Well, I think you wouldn’t have to worry about
me
...

I think those look good.

It’s California plated, liberal is implied
![]() 01/27/2017 at 22:37 |

It looks cool. Gives the car a punk attitude, and I like that.

That’s where I was going.
