What would a movie based in Vancouver be about? Real estate speculation? Satellite kid devilspawn in supercars? Busy streets with no left turn lanes? Vancouver can play itself for playoff hockey disappointments and occasional riots.
Not knocking Van, it has lots of cool things too. I think I first got into this with “X-Files” and “Happy Gilmore” when I recognized exact filming locations.

Maybe it’s a Canada thing. Has any Canadian city ever played itself?

Toronto sometimes plays itself? Occasionally.
