This. I’ve argued this with so many people it’s ridiculous. So many, actually very intelligent people, that just can’t wrap their heads around the fact that that 3" pipe you stuck on might actually be creating MORE back pressure.

I can understand how it got to be such a popular bit of “knowledge”. Someone puts on bigger exhaust, loses power, dyno proves it, “hmmm engines must need some back pressure”. It’s actually a pretty reasonable, if unscientific, explanation on the surface.

But it’s still something that makes me want to beat my head against the wall.
