Some of the more affordable ones will have reviews that state that people just drilled out the lock and stole it anyway. What does oppo recommend?
Cinnamon rolls with orange frosting that I will not be sharing for your time.

Hidden kill switch to battery? Eliminates the drilling problem.

Why don’t you just pull the fuel pump relay when you park it?
![]() 01/26/2017 at 23:13 |

I would probably lose it...

There’s lots of places to hide a kill switch. Just depends on how much you’re willing to inconvenience yourself. (Under the seat is convenient, but perhaps too easy for them to find.) The problem with bulky lock-out devices is that any lock can be cut or drilled if those assholes have tools.

Stolen tools, no doubt

Booty Call. It was a long shot. Jamie Foxx was a character named “Bunz”.

Have a removable steering wheel! Hard to lose and definitely makes stealing interesting. If someone stole the car with the steering wheel removed they probably wanted your car more than you ever did.

Buy one of these
and clip it on your key ring. Then you’ll never lose the relay.

The price is also noice.

Yeah, could be.
At any rate, it’s better to try to outsmart them electrically. Maybe kill the ignition, or fuel system, or both...

Kill the kill switch?
![]() 01/26/2017 at 23:39 |

The more the merrier!
Imagine them having trouble getting the car to crank over until they found a kill switch under the seat. So now they’re cranking it but it still won’t fire because they haven’t found the fuel pump kill-switch... Hopefully they give up before they drain your battery haha.
You could also kill the starter, but sometimes it’s easy for them to bypass the solenoid with a screwdriver, so it’s better to just find a way to keep the car from being able to stay running.

A guy I know has an BMW wagon from Europe where vehicle theft is a pretty big issue.
The previous owner’s solution was to rewire the driver seat heater switch to be a fuel pump kill switch.
While not super convenient if you like having toasty seats, it’s not something your average thief is going to sit there rooting around for. Pulling the relay is quick, but not very stealthy. Do you have any blank buttons on the dash? May be a good place you can hide something. Maybe even a battery disconnect like race cars have.

Hidden main power switch? Side bonus of being able to kill power if the vehicle will sit for extended periods, helping to prevent a dead battery.

I home-built one that connects to the steering wheel as well. I can post a picture of it later, if it would spike your creative mind..:D...

Someone stole my removable wheel once and I drove home using the hub... Thank god for power steering

Yes, if you replace a button or switch that’s already there. I’ve heard some people made it so that you had to push in the cigarette lighter to start it.
Another method, which I learned here on Oppo, is to just have 4 or 5 toggle switches in the open on the dash. And only a certain combination will let it start.

That’s insane!!

What about a relatively hidden kill switch to the relay?

How about a better alternative:

Why not install a killswitch in a hidden location?

F*ck, Im sorry, I read your reply and got caught up in some stuff at home. Ill get to posting it today...

I like this idea as the point is to inconvenience the would be thief enough so they move on without you being overly inconvenienced. I would say have the starter relay wire off the ignition switch go through another switch. If they are smart enough to find it when quickly stealing it then they are crafty enough to drill out a steering or pedal lock. Might be worth it to add a visual deterrent like a steering wheel cover that says the “eliminator” that will probably be just as effective as seeing the steering lock.
