I came across this on YouTube the other day. Not a bad watch:

Oh History channel you used to be so cool.
Have Edward Hermann narrating the history of Packard.

This is making me miss when History Channel and Discovery Channel didn’t give me cancer with their current formulaic reality garbage

I used to watch History channel about 2-3 hours a day, because I “home schooled” for 6th grade, and my Mom was lazy. As a result I was way ahead of my classmates in Social Studies from 7 th grade on.
If you let a kid do that now, he’d just end up stupider.

I really wonder - what happened to them? Advertising dollars dry up, so they had to switch it up - and produce crap that the unwashed masses watch, as opposed to things that are actually educational?

No idea. I never had cable TV growing up, so in some respects, I’m slowly catching up on my alternate childhood by watching all these documentaries.
At least that’s what I keep telling myself. :P

I imagine that’s what happened, but I don’t really know. I didn’t think they were doing badly before, but maybe they were. Now with the state of cable TV they’re just doing whatever gets the most viewership - lowest common denominator.
