Meet a Class 121, aka Bubble Car.
2 x 150 bhp engines, four speed semi automatic box, max 75 mph.
As you might not expect, the last one made was the first to be scrapped while the first one made is still around.and in daily service on

German- part of Deutsche Bahn. We do have a nationalised railway system, it’s just owned by other nations...

I recognize that livery, I think they also run around the Midlands (Wikipedia seems to confirm this).
