Would be nice indeed. I think the 2.3l duratec has a good NA aftermarket and some tuning options to get a chunk of HP. But yes, boooost is better.
Caranddriver did a couple of articles on a mazdaspeed swap. They actually had a bit of trouble as I recall, it wasn’t as easy as they thought it was going to be.

C&D did it, they had to splice one helluva siamese’d harness for the extra ECMs but it worked out great using MS3 guts.

Yeah you have to splice the MS3 engine harness into the Mazda5 harness. And the engine is designed to send signals to one set of acronyms and the Mazda5 has a different set of acronyms.
Money-no-object I’d just put in the Volvo I5 like the 2nd gen focus ST.
