So...Honda decided to use poor clear coat paint for the 8th gen Civic and thanks to that the clear coat on my car is “eh.” Its getting noticeable on the roof of my car.
I’m strongly considering having the roof and hood (maybe) wrapped. What color looks good on a silver Si?

There was a recall/extended warranty campaign for this problem in that, and a coupe of other, colors. Was your car covered under it? On my sisters old civic the roof, hood, fenders and trunk were repainted on Honda’s dime just before she traded it in.

probably black, I’ve seen some folks wrap their roofs black. And yours appears to have a sun roof, so it would look nice! ( In theory)

Check with your dealership to see if you are covered in the respray campaign - Friend of our was over the time limit and I ended up wrapping the roof myself;

It’s holding up very well, I hate to think what is going on under the wrap - and it would most likely need a respray if you ever took it off.. Now that I know what to look for every single fiji blue civic I’ve seen has had failure along the top of the rear window.

This was also the timing of them switching to the more Earth-friendly compounds, it’s not just Honda who had problems getting it right out of the gate.
There is a warranty for it though, so see if you qualify.

I’m not covered under the respray, annoyingly.

When we checked they said date had closed, and the respray was doors and hood only.. ? Of course that was at a dealership so who knows. The civic forums had spotty stories as well.
Vinyl was the best option, I looked at some plastidipped posts and wasn’t impressed.

I have to admit, its only the roof but i think it’d look off with just the hood wrapped

That is unfortunate. My sister had 2010 LX sedan in dark grey(with a manual). She bought it new and kept for six years and 101k before trading it for her new mustang. It was great little car, even if it wasn’t the most interesting car in the world. It did everything she needed, didn’t feel like a penalty box, got 34-37mpg the highway and beyond the upper surfaces being repainted under the extended paint warranty, in 101k it needed nothing other than fluid and filter changes, a preventative serpentine belt and tensioner and spark plug change, one set of front brakes and two sets of tires.
Aside from a couple of alignments, no one but me touched a bolt on the car after it left the factory. I always liked the car and part of me knows it would’ve made sense to buy it from her as the highway commuting car and reserve the corvette for weekend usage, but I like driving the corvette everyday and I couldn’t get past the fact that a Honda Civic would have cost almost 50% more to insure than my corvette.

I just saw a Civic coupe from that generation today with the clear coat totally failed on the roof, trunk, and hood. I had never seen anything that new look that bad.
