The difference between my stock-sized tires on 16" wheels and oversized tires on Acura 15s is amazing. Yes, that’s stock wheel gap. Yes, the car is on the ground. My Miata has more ground clearance than 99% of new cars it seems. I scrape on *nothing*

Must be a comfy ride, yes?

More sidewall is more better.

Wheel gap does not correlate to ground clearance.

Except it does... when tire/wheel size is the only thing changing.

The point I was making is with stock wheels and tires I have a ton of ground clearance because NBs have fitment like a truck. With the upsized tires in the second photo... yeah. I can drive over ANYTHING.

This. One of the reasons I hate the proliferation of large wheels. And why it always bugs the shit out of me when you see some old muscle or pony car with a resto-mod build on 19" wheels (yes, I know, big brakes. I don’t care. Anything larger than 16 is too big for me).

Besides the all important 6MT on my Mazda5, one of the things I wanted was the more comfortable 16" wheels instead of the 17s on other models. Just one more reason to buy the base ‘Sport’ model.

That’s not a gap. This is a gap:
